Course Details

The Forest Service is once again opening up the epic Continental Divide Trail to our event. Only the first 200 riders to raise $500 will be allowed to ride this trail. The ride is approximately 26 miles.*

Riders will meet at the Wildhorse Meadows parking lot off of Mount Werner Road at 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 12th. The riders and their bikes will be shuttled up to the trailhead at Dumont Lake near the famous geologic formation called the Rabbit Ears. Riders will begin this beautiful mountain bike ride in waves beginning at the Dumont Lake trailhead. A rest area/feed zone will be located at Long Lake, representing the half-way point of the ride.

The ride will officially end at the base of the Gondola  at the Steamboat Ski Area, where the lunch celebration will be held.

Who it’s for

Ride 4 Yellow is a non-competitive ride, but the trail is not for inexperienced mountain bikers. With more than 20 miles of moderate to advanced singletrack terrain, the Divide Trail is a challenging but not extreme trail for rider comfortable in the saddle of a mountain bike. If you’ve ever wanted to do this ride, now is the time! We’ll have an aid station at Long Lake (which represents the approximate half-way point) plus support riders on the course.

Ride requirements

The registration fee is $75 for the  through May 31, 2012, and $100 thereafter. Registered riders must raise a minimum donation of $500.
Because this is a remote trail on national forest land, a Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue Card (CORSAR) or a Colorado hunting or fishing license are required of each rider. A CORSAR card is $3 for 1 year or $12 for 5 years. Riders must provide evidence of a CORSAR card or Colorado hunting or fishing license at registration. CORSAR cards can be purchased online here or from a Routt County Search and Rescue representative at Ride 4 Yellow’s pre-race packet pickup. Proceeds from CORSAR card purchases go to Colorado Search and Rescue Fund, which helps reimburse local search and rescue agencies for their missions.
